Appropriate for the absolute exclusivity of this project, the discrete and highly targeted sales effort is strategically supported by only one piece of marketing and advertising collateral - a bespoke, hand crafted, coffee table book.
The concept was to imagine the book as one that would appeal to those with discerning tastes who collect in the high-end art world, a notion perfectly aligned with 4AM's expertise. The type of book gifted to accompany a rarefied artefact or piece of art purchased from a museum inspires notions of an exclusive fellowship of high society. The book would unpack and present the remarkable story of The Villard and, more importantly, the context in which it will exist, the reclaimed land and now metropolitan marine precinct, the Wynyard Quarter.
To deliver on this lofty ambition required a brave client, ambitious design, and meticulous commitment to craft content and production.
An elegant brand mark, carefully curated by 4AM, sets the tone with a refined flair that whispers ‘Madison Avenue’. The artist's sketches of the building and place were commissioned to allow for the expression and passion in the design to be delivered on the page. Prose and poetry, crafted by 4AM, were written to articulate the story and spiritual magic of this seaside location. A specialised photography task entailed having a resident photographer stationed at the location for a week, skilfully capturing the enchanting play of light and spontaneous moments that can only be fully appreciated with a generous amount of time.

Production involved a 6-colour print on carefully selected stocks, hand-bound in French folds with sewn sections, and finished with linen-covered cases and slipcovers subtly debased by large format plates, the pattern extracted from the unique mullion detailing found on the building.
